Catching a Flu or Cold During Pregnancy

When a woman is pregnant, she is prone to a lot of things especially the common flu and cold. Here are some tips to remember if pregnant woman catches either flu or cold:

  1. Drink a lot of fluids at least 10 glasses per day. Juices are also OK as they can provide the nutrition piece when your appetite decreases.
  2. Always take a lot of rest. Sleep or take a nap to recuperate.
  3. If there is pain in the sinus area, apply warm compress to alleviate the congestion.
  4. If you have no appetite, try to eat at least six small meals to put some food in your stomach.
  5. Do not buy over-the-counter medicines without asking your doctor about safely. Some medicines are not tested if they are safe for those who are pregnant and may affect the baby’s health and development.
  6. Consult your doctor before buying medicine and if the situation continues to develop. See to it to get a check up for possible infections.
